The Clyde, with due respect to all other places in the UK, must be the
the area that delivers some of the most astonishing and beautiful sunsets.
The mixture of mountains and sea and awesome evening colours provides our
photographers on Clydeshipping with an excuse to turn their lenses to
something other than the ships that sail our beloved waters.
Harry Lauder sung the song:
Roamin' in the gloamin
On the bonny banks of Clyde
Roamin in the gloamin wi a lassie by ma side
When the sun sets in the west
That's the time that I love best
O' it's lovely roamin in the gloamin
Whether you have a lass or laddie by your side, or on your glorious
lonesome, it is indeed the best of times to experience the magic of a
Clyde sunset.
This year has seen some spectacular instances of the Clyde's evening
fireworks display, and we have been thrilled to see it both in actuality
and repeated on our computer screens with contributions from our
subscribers, showing off not only the Clyde, but their skills as
photographers.
So, to take a break from ships, here follows just a few of the many sunset
photos we have enjoyed on Clydesite. Many thanks folks, your efforts are
not only appreciated, but much needed in an uncertain world to let us know
some things remain beautiful and lasting.

Let's start off in fine fashion. Calum McCulloch posted this simply
gorgeous view of the Clyde on a night that produced a variety of hues at
every stage of the setting of the sun, this was just one of many stunning
photos Calum took.

I think this was the same evening, just to show what I mean about variety
in one sunset. This from Lesley Wild.

This is such a magical picture! Taken by John Crae, sunset over Gourock.

Another from John Crae. A wonderful mixture of lighting fore and aft!

This view of the Erskine bridge at night was taken by Gary Lucas

A classic view of the Clyde and Cowal hills from Ian Montgomery

Yet another stunner from Ian

And finally, this sensational shot from Conway MacCulloch showing the
windfarm on the Ayrshire coast.
These are just a random selection of the many superb pictures we have been
fortunate to share on Clydeshipping, and justify the pride that the people
of the Clyde feel for their area. Come and join us, either physically or
by becoming a subscriber. Of course we can't guarantee every evening is as
beautiful as these ones were, but we can guarantee it will happen some
nights!
