Remarks: JASON left Calcutta on 15th February
bound for Boston with a cargo of jute and 27 crew. Whilst crossing the Indian
Ocean she suffered damage to her rigging in a hurricxane but still managed to
reach Mauritius where she was re rigged. But on the above status date she ran
ashore at Cape Cod in a blizzard and battered to pieces by the sea. Everyone
perished, either swept overboard or frozen to death in the rigging, save for one
apprentice who managed to make shore.

Remarks: Started as troopship so maiden
voyage wasnt until 15th November 1919 London to Australia 278 1st,
195 2nd and 1,000 3rd class passengers Requisitioned as a troopship in
1939, was in the evacuations from Norway and France. Returned to commercial
service in 1947 as an emigrant vessel to Australia. Scrapped at Dalmuir

Photo supplied by above web page Intended for Hamburg America Line, her keel
laid in 1913 but due to the war did not complete for them. Evenutally completed
as a troop carrier before making her maiden voyage on December 5th 1918 for CPR,
carrying troops back home to Canada. Refitted and modernised at Hawthorne
Leslie & Co, Newcastle and tonnage increased to 15,186 grt. Laid up in
the Clyde 1931 and sold for scrapping in 1935. Bought from the breakers by the
Italian government for use as a troopship. Transferred to Lloyd Triestino in
1938. Bombed by Allies in May 1943 at Messina and half sank. Raised in 1949 and
scrapped at La Spezia
