Wrecked Today 1864: ss BOHEMIAN built by William Denny & Brothers Dumbarton,
Propulsion: steam, direct acting engines, 400 nhp, 13 knots Launched: Tuesday, 08 February 1859 Built: 1860 Ship Type: Passenger Vessel Tonnage: 2190 tons Length: 298.3 feet Breadth: 38.5 feet Owner History: J & A Allan & Co Glasgow Status: Wrecked - 22/02/1864
Remarks: She left Liverpool on the 4th February 1864 under the command of Capt. Borland bound for Portland, Maine. When she got near to the harbour he misjudged the distance of lights on Cape Elizabeth and grounded her on the rocks and sank in an upright position in four fathoms. All boats were launched and eeryoner reached shore. Apart from one boat, filled with 20 Irish emigrants. Sold to Shaw, Saville & Albion in 1889. Then to Norwegian owners in 1903. Sunk by U boat 50 30 miles off Fastnet bound to Greenock from Pensacola with pitch pine. Remarks: Wrecked on the west coast of Africa whilst carrying general cargo on a voyage from Hamburg

Torpedoed & Sunk Today 1943: ss CUSTODIAN built by Charles Connell & Company Scotstoun, Yard No 252 Last Name: N T NIELSEN-ALONSO Previous Names: PULCEVERA (1923) Propulsion: steam, triple expansion, 690 nhp Built: 1900 Ship Type: Passenger Cargo Vessel Tonnage: 481.7 feet Length: 57.2 feet Breadth: 31.9 feet Owner History: T & J Harrison Liverpool Griffin Leith (1923) Hvalfangerselsk. Polaris AS (1926) Status: Torpedoed & Sunk - 22/02/1943
Remarks: Part of Convoy ON 166 she left the Clyde on February 11th 1943 in ballast from Glasgow to New York. She was torpedoed by U 92 resutling in the deaths of three men in the engine room and she took on water. Remaining crew of 50 took to the boats. She was torpedoed a second time by U753 but still refused to sink. She was finished off by the Polish escort BURZA Photo supplied by Joe McMillan Collection

Launched: Friday, 21 December 1917 Built: 1918 Ship Type: Minesweeper Tonnage: 750t Length: 231ft Breadth: 28ft Draught: 7ft Owner History: Royal Navy Status: Sold for Scrapping - 22/02/1923
Remarks: Armament:2 x 12pdr, and 2 x 6pdr, although many had only one of each gun.
